SESION 1 / 35 MINUTOS. 13/05/2014
Hola de nuevo:
Esta tarde he comenzado las
sesiones de pulido. Antes de comenzar he realizado un prensado en caliente para
que las superficies estén bien ajustadas y en buen contacto.
En un frasco tengo preparada una
mezcla de agua con oxido de cerio en una buena proporción de óxido de cerio
para que el pulido sea eficaz.
Tan sólo he añadido un poco de
dicha mezcla, repartiéndola por la superficie del cristal antes de empezar a
pulir.
Este trabajo se realiza sobre una
tabla que a su vez está apoyada en un paño de tela para repartir el esfuerzo en
toda la superficie y evitar defectos locales.

Para fijar la posición de la “herramienta”
a la tabla de madera, he instalado tres piezas de madera ubicadas en ángulos de
120 grados.
Esta sesión de pulido ha sido “espejo
arriba”, o como indican los libros especialidados “Mirror On Top” o coloquialmente
“MOT”.
He estado puliendo manualmente
durante tan sólo 35 minutos pero los cambios en la superficie del cristal son
apreciables.
La superficie está mucho más
regular, con un aclarado evidente en los bordes. Esto me preocupa bastante
puesto que indica que la parte central no ha tenido el mismo contacto. Además
puede terminar en una deformación en anillo de la superficie.

Mirando la superficie hacia una
fuente de luz en un ángulo apropiado se puede observar y fotografiar su
aspecto.

Hello again:
This afternoon I started polishing sessions. Before
I made a hot press to the surfaces are tight and in good contact.
In a small bottle I have prepared a mixture of water with
cerium oxide in a good proportion of the cerium oxide to be effective polishing.
I have only added a bit of the mixture, spreading it over the surface of
the glass before you start polishing.
This work is performed on a table which in turn is supported on a washcloth
to spread the effort across the surface and avoid local defects.
To fix the position of the "tool" a wooden board, I installed
three pieces of wood placed at angles of 120 degrees.
This polishing session has been "mirror up", or as indicated by specialized
books "Mirror On Top" or colloquially "MOT".
I've been polishing by hand for only 35 minutes but changes in the glass surface are appreciable.
The surface is much more regular, rinse with clear edges. This
worries me a lot because it indicates that the central part has not had the
same contact. You
can also end in a deformation ring surface.
Looking towards the surface light source at an appropriate angle can
observe and photograph their appearance.
The movements have been polishing or so races one third the diameter of the
mirror with slight movements of lateral displacement.

hoy he estado puliendo durante 30 minutos con los mismos movimientos. El resultado es muy satisfactorio.
Casi toda la superficie está aclarada. Tan sólo queda una pequeña zona central sin aclarar.

Es muy interesante que tan sólo en una hora de pulido haya conseguido estos resultados.
La superficie está tan transparente que mañana realizaré la primera prueba de Foucault para poder apreciar la rugosidad de la superficie y su forma.

Almost the whole surface is rinsed. Only a small central area is unclear.
It is very interesting that only in an hour polishing has achieved these results.
The surface is so transparent that tomorrow will perform the first test of Foucault to appreciate the roughness of the surface and form.
